About the Author

Frank Siccone Ed.D. is an educator, author, and organizational leadership consultant. For three decades he has been offering workshops to teachers and administrators throughout the country, and has conducted youth leadership training for students not only in the United States, but also from Russia, and South Africa.

�

Dr. Siccone has written a previous book on school leadership entitled, The Power To Lead: A Guide For School Administrators On Facilitating Change. His first book, 101 Ways to Develop Student Self-Esteem and Responsibility was co-authored with Jack Canfield (co-author of Chicken Soup for the Soul). His books have been translated into Chinese, Czech, Russian, and Spanish. He has taught classes and workshops at several colleges and universities including the California State University, East Bay and San Bernardino; San Francisco State University; University of California, Riverside; the University of San Francisco; and the Leadership Institute at Yale University.

In addition to his work in education, Frank has also consulted with an impressive list of corporate clients such as Cisco Systems, Hitachi, Intel, Pepsi Cola, Sprint, Sun Microsystems, and Walmart.com. Dr. Siccone is able to offer practical, easy to access tips and strategies on how to communicate, manage, and effectively support your educational community. Having participated in Dr. Siccone's workshops years ago, I can guarantee he is someone who offers

This has been an excellent book to use with new and experienced principals. Reading, discussing and working through this book together has provided a forum for rich conversations and a renewed commitment to doing what is right and best for students. The readily available materials and activities are excellent. We are becoming better leaders because of the work we are doing together in this book.

Essential Skills for Effective School Leadership by Frank Siccone is sprinkled with many thought provoking quotes and parables. The first, however, from John Quincy Adams, sets the tone for the entire book "If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader." Siccone, from this point forward lays out a blueprint school leaders can follow for transforming a personal vision into reality.

Siccone's blueprint begins with personal development, segues into relational, and team strategies in both human factor and instrumental domains. Within the book's pages are found considerable assessments and worksheets that a leader can apply to any school improvement scenario.

His section on communication and learning styles is cogent. He continually builds on learning style principles in later chapters artfully weaving accrued self-knowledge into practical application.

Siccone's critical contribution to the literature on school leadership is his understanding of the preeminence of context. The author expounds on the concept that successful schools are products of school cultures that promote trust, collaboration, communication, and vision. Truly Mineralogy for Geologists

The problem with most mineralogy textbooks is that they're written by and for mineralogists. For the average geologist, this can make learning mineralogy unnecessarily difficult. This book solves that problem. It is by far the best intro to mineralogy text I've been exposed to. It wasn't released until after I'd already taken my first minearlogy class and I bought it anyway on a professor's recommendation. I was not dissappointed. I used this book more often as a reference in my last year of geology study (to get my BS) than the text I'd learned from, bookmarked and written notes in. I also used it extensively when I was teaching mineralogy lab as a graduate student and a few of my students found the book so helpful they bought it as well. If you're looking for a great mineralogy text, get this one - even if you're required to get a different one for your classes. If you're a professor - PLEASE consider making this the required text for your mineralogy class. It is excellent.

difficult to put down.

Agree with Mr O'mahoney's recommendation. Section these deviants. Prison doesn't cure anything. It's ridiculous the double standards of the press and police. In the US you have "To catch a predator" where offenders are enticed and trapped in televised sting like operations, before they commit an offence. If a man's intent is to try to abuse a 13 yr old then he deserves punishment before a young girls, or boys, life is destroyed. I come from Bernard's home town of Codsall and am aware of his violent past. He was notorious when I was a teen but having read about his early years and how he has turned his life around all I can say is it's typical of the muck raking press in the UK to soil the name of anyone with a past. This is a fascinating yet disturbing read and surprisingly we'll written. I highly recommend this book.

This edited volume presents a viable argument for anthropology as a needed discipline for not only discovering the exotic 'Other,' but also for shedding light on all kinds of social issues around the globe. The variety of topics as well as the inclusion of quite a bit of material based in Europe was helpful, particularly since my focus is on European Anthropology.

My only complaint is that the Kindle version is very poorly edited. Multiple sentences are missing words--often the first word in the sentence.

An interesting and broad overview to Anthropology, but students may be frustrated by the lack of references, footnotes, and endnotes.
