Bicameralism

This book makes an important contribution to the study of legislative institutions, not so much because of its content but in its original examination of a much neglected subject. Bicameralism is an important political institution that has been under examined by public choice scholars. The authors build a coherent positive theory of bicameralism and back it up with empirical analysis. A first rate job. A must read for students of legislative organization and Jesse Ventura (who advocates a unicameral legislature).

Great use of theory and cases

Like much of Prof. Tsebelis' work, this book combines rigorous theory with great comparative case studies. The best material is on conference committees - some of the observations really did challenge the conventional literature at the time. I honestly am not sure how far the literature has advanced since it's publication, but Tsebelis and Money write clearly enough that the book could be used as a graduate (and possibly undergrad) text for a comparative politics course.

About the Author

Iqbal Husain is a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Akron in Ohio. He received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Texas A&M University. Dr. Husain is the founder of the Electric and Hybrid Vehicle Program at the University of Akron, which encompasses graduate and undergraduate courses, research on electric drives for electric and hybrid vehicles, and collegiate-level competitions on alternative vehicles. An IEEE Fellow, he is the recipient of the National Science Foundation CAREER award, the IEEE-IAS Outstanding Young Member award, the IEEE Third Millennium Medal, the College of Engineering Outstanding Researcher Award, and the Society of Automotive Engineers Vincent Bendix Automotive Electronics Engineering Award.

Solid on Fundamentals

Dr. Husain is an Electrical Engineer, therefore his book focuses primarily on the electrical, magnetic, electromagnetic & electromechanical aspects of EV & HEV vehicle design. From this perspective, his book is very solid on fundamental EV & HEV design considerations and component analyses. However, the continuously variable transmission (CVT)... including planetary gearsets (used in CVTs to combine/split torque) is a key HEV component. Consequently, I view omitting their discussion as dissapointing. On the other hand, Dr. Husain's text is very well written/edited and his style of explaining technical details is conversational, yet professional. I recommend this book without hessitation.

Hard to follow, not much practical information

This book is very hard to follow. The author presents examples (and sometimes answers) without outlining how to solve the problems. This is very frustrating! Most of the work in the book is calculus-based which would not be a problem if the steps for deriving the equations were more explicit. The information is very theoretical with little practical relevance to electric car design. The author starts out by explaining generic vehicle mechanics and then jumps right into battery chemistry and motors. Very little effort is spent on the interrelationships between these elements. The author does a decent job describing motor fundamentals, but he does not spend much time discussing the practical limitations of the technology. The hybrid discussion is relegated to the last chapter of the book, and then only a few pages are devoted to explaining this technology. Most of the chapter is spent describing various thermodynamic cycles such as the Otto cycle and Rankine cycle. Curiously,at this point the author resorts to a very high level discussion of these cycles, using very little math to show the effects of the electric motor on the function and efficiency of the traditional ICE vehicle.

Book is great, but I do not like kindle version. I was hoping that I could print partial parts of the book.

If you are a student, buy regular book since you won't be able to print anything...not even one page. I was hoping to print out pages with formulas, graphs, etc.

Best Delphi book written

The book is written for the developer by experienced people who did not use worthless examples. The examples are what is required in real world programming. The book is excellent to learn from and also to use as a reference even though Delphi 2 was the latest release at the time of publication. I have used this as a reference in the majority of cases. I have been using Delphi for over 6 years now for desktop development.

It is useful for both the novice and expert programmer. I do truly believe in Feng Shui. I believe you need harmony for happiness, wealth, and to prosper. I never knew how to start though. This book has really gave me some great ideas about how to get started getting my life on the right track by using feng shui. I already started trying to rearrange my living room the get a positive flow. It will take time and practice but if you use the advice in this book you will be able to master feng shui and bring some peace and harmony into your life. I believe it also brings beauty and light into your life also. I received this book at a discount for an honest review. I recommend it for anyone needing a change for the better in there life.

Not worth the effort

Am I missing something?!? I see many great reviews for this book and it's the most useless Feng Shui book I've ever read. And I could only manage half way through! Anyone who has studied Feng Shui for more than a few years will not be impressed. If you're interested in learning Eight Directions School (which this is) there are much better volumes to choose.
My copy was so badly written, obviously it was never proofed before printing. And where are the credentials? Anyone who thinks they're expert enough to write a book should be willing to put in some background information. Yes, there are some basic tips (some of which are incorrect) but there's not enough detailed info. Why tell the reader they need to know their personal element, auspicious directions and kua number and then not tell them how to do that? At least add a birthdate chart in the appendix so the reader doesn't have to search out additional sources.
This is the only item I've ever had to return to Amazon. There are over fifty Feng Shui volumes on my bookshelf,and I didn't care to add this one to the collection. Again, if you're just investigating Feng Shui, this may be a valid purchase, but not really worth the money!!!

This book will provide you a better understanding about the history of feng shui, the concepts that brought together the feng shui, and how you can utilize the elements of life for your benefit. There are also chapters that deal with specific health benefits of feng shui like stress relief. The book will also help you get started with feng shui and use the resources around you in the best way possible. What I like about this book are the tips and strategies for the purse. It provides a simple and clear explanation on how you can apply and receive the benefits that you deserve. Now for you to achieve the prosperity, apply what you gave learn from this book, believe in what your doing, don't lose hope and always be positive.

A Must Read! Excellent Book!

I have read this book once already and just started reading it again for the second time. I love this book! It's a fast read and really makes you think about how you want to raise your children and how you want to be remembered by your family and your peers once your time on this earth is over.
I found this book taught me how to react better and try my best to see my glass half full to any situation God throws my way.
He has a great gift of making you feel like you were with him through this whole journey!
Hopefully Bryan will write another book in the future.
